The Boston Bruins just received some very good news regarding Charlie McAvoy, but it's the 'best case scenario' and could very well not be true.
Six days ago, on November 15th, when facing off against the Montreal Canadiens, Charlie McAvoy ended up leaving the game after suffering a scary injury.
During the Bruins' 3-2 win over the Montreal Canadiens, McAvoy ended up taking a slapshot from Canadiens defenseman Noah Dobson to the face.
This caused him to leave the game, and fans held their breath while waiting for an update.
Thankfully, McAvoy was able to fly back to Boston with the team, but it took multiple days before an official update was provided regarding McAvoy's health.
Marco Sturm recently revealed that Charlie McAvoy underwent facial surgery, and there was no original timeline.
Now, the Bruins got some good news and possibly a timeline on when he could return.
Best case scenario, McAvoy returns for the Olympics
On Wednesday, ahead of their game, ESPN's Emily Kaplan revealed that Charlie McAvoy could return for the Winter Olympics. That is the expectation and would be the best case scenario.
“A few injury updates around NHL… -Charlie McAvoy's timeline depends on healing from facial surgery, but expectation is he'll be OK for Olympics. Best case in what was a horrible scenario,” Kaplan wrote on X.
When announcing their first six players for Team USA, McAvoy was one of the first players to be announced on the team for the Olympics.
McAvoy has appeared in 19 of the Bruins' first 20 games, recording 0 goals and 14 assists, but is expected to miss a period of time now.
Do you think Charlie McAvoy is going to be good to go for the Winter Olympics?
