On Thursday night, the Boston Bruins' seven-game winning streak came to an end on the road against the Ottawa Senators, where the Bruins ended up losing 5-3.
The Bruins trailed the Senators all game and entered the third period giving up a quick goal to go down by two goals, with the score being 3-1.
Boston showed some resilience and ended up coming back to tie the game at 3 apiece. Unfortunately, the Bruins gave up a goal with just over 5 minutes remaining in regulation, with the Senators later adding an empty net goal.
After the game, defenseman Hampus Lindholm ended up expressing his frustration with his teammates.
Lindholm not happy with the loss
Lindholm, to say the least, was not happy with the Bruins' loss.
“The last goal, the team needed to do a better job, myself there, too,” Lindholm said on Thursday, as seen on NESN's postgame coverage. Try and make a smart play. The whole game tonight I think we had a lot of fight back. The goals they got were a lot on ourselves.
“So, at least we can tighten that up. I think we're playing some good hockey right now. I try not to get too low after a game like this, but it's frustrating. It's a game we should've won or at least had a point. Just have to learn from it.”
During the game, Lindholm believes that the Bruins ended up making way too many mistakes that ended up costing them the game.
“We talked about it before,” Lindholm added. “We knew they were coming out (hard). Obviosuly not ideal to start killing right away. They are good on the power play and get some momentum there. We have to play a little smarter.”
Lindholm is hopeful that the Boston Bruins can learn from this game and have a better outcome in future games.
The Boston Bruins are preparing to take on one of their biggest rivals in the Montreal Canadiens, whom they will face off against on Saturday.
