Sandis Vilmanis ended up being on the other hand of karma after his dirty hit on Charlie McAvoy.
It started in the first period with McAvoy carrying the puck through the neutral zone, trying to move Florida’s forecheck back.
Panthers forward Sandis Vilmanis came in high and late, and the contact looked ugly the moment it landed.
McAvoy dropped to the ice, then headed down the tunnel while the scrum popped off around him.
Boston feared the worst because McAvoy drives everything from the blue line and recently returned from a head injury.
Then the weird twist hit Florida too, because Vilmanis didn’t take another shift after the chaos settled.
The Panthers later announced Vilmanis would not return due to an upper-body injury, closing the book on his night.
Sandis Vilmanis (upper body) will not return tonight vs. Boston.
Call it karma or call it hockey, but the guy who threw the hit ended up out of the game almost immediately.
Vilmanis on the bad side of karma
Karma works in funny ways, and it caught up to Vilmanis quickly.
After it looked like McAvoy suffered the worst from the play, it's clear that Vilmanis was on the worst side of it.
Somehow, Vilmanis did not receive any further discipline from the Department of Player Safety, once again making a joke of themselves.
Hearing there will be no supplemental discipline for Sandis Vilmanis for his flying elbow to the head of Charlie McAvoy. No injury, no problem I guess.
Fans were furious after hearing this, but at the end of the day they made a decision and aren't going to change it.
Did karma strike Sandis Vilmanis after the Charlie McAvoy head hit?
