A report last night revealed that NHL super star, Kirill Kaprizov has turned down a record breaking deal, and it could end up benefiting the Boston Bruins.
There has been some speculation surrounding Kaprizov's future with the Minnesota Wild, and it has lead to a bunch of trade rumors.
News broke out yesterday, and just fuelled the recent trade rumors, as it was revealed he turned down a record breaking contract from the Minnesota Wild.
NHL insider Frank Seravalli revealed that Kaprizov ended up turning down an eight-year, $16 million deal, which would have made him the highest ever paid player in the NHL.
Take a look:
Kirill Kaprizov rejected an eight-year, $16M AAV ($128M total) offer from the Wild, which would have made him the highest paid player in NHL history, per @frank_seravalli.
This could benefit the Boston Bruins
The Boston Bruins have been looking to acquire another top-six player, and this could be the perfect opportunity for them to do so.
With all the speculation surrounding Kaprizov's future with the Wild, the Boston Bruins have been in trade rumors to acquire him.
There was even a proposed trade earlier in the off-season that would send Kaprizov to the Boston Bruins:
Bruins get:
Kirill Kaprizov, F
Wild get:
Casey Mittelstadt, F
Fabian Lysell, F
2026 first-round pick
2027 first-round pick
If the Bruins opt not to trade for him, and the Wild decide not to move on from him, they could always try and acquire him in free agency next off-season.
The Boston Bruins have nearly $20 million in cap space next off-season, and there is a good chance they could try and agree on a deal.
Do you think the Boston Bruins should try and sign Kirill Kaprizov if he hits free agency?
