With the NHL trade deadline exactly ten days away, the Boston Bruins have narrowed their gaze.

While a list of 35 potential targets has been circulating around the league, general manager Don Sweeney is reportedly zeroing in on three specific names to bolster the roster for a deep playoff run. Justin Faulk, Rasmus Ristolainen, and a shocking potential reunion with Jake DeBrusk.

The Bruins' most pressing need remains a right-shot defenseman after missing out on Rasmus Andersson earlier this month. St. Louis Blues veteran Justin Faulk has emerged as a top priority.

Don Sweeney's high-stakes gamble

Faulk, 33, provides the championship pedigree and offensive touch from the blue line that the Bruins have lacked. Despite the Blues' high asking price, his durability and contract certainty-signed through 2027-make him an ideal "long-term" fit for Sweeney's vision.

In addition to Faulk, the Bruins have "checked in" on Philadelphia's Rasmus Ristolainen. While some insiders suggest Boston isn't "especially high" on the 6-foot-4 Finn, his performance at the Milan Olympics has raised his stock.

Ristolainen led Finland in plus-minus during their bronze medal run and offers the heavy, physical style of play that typically excels in the Atlantic Division gauntlet.

Perhaps the most intriguing name on the list is Jake DeBrusk. Currently with the Vancouver Canucks, DeBrusk has been linked to a potential return to the TD Garden.

Vancouver is reportedly entering a "full-scale rebuild," and DeBrusk's playoff experience and familiarity with the Bruins' system would provide an immediate boost to the middle-six scoring.

The Bruins currently hold a 32-20-5 record and are sitting in a Wild Card spot. Unlike last year, when they were sellers, Sweeney is positioned as a conservative buyer with four first-round picks over the next two years to use as trade bait.

If the Bruins can land two of these three targets, they transform from a bubble team into a legitimate threat to the Eastern Conference elite.
