Patrice Bergeron is inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame on Monday, and the Bruins arrive at the weekend sitting 12-4-1.
Induction weekend always stirs up the past in Boston. This year it also lands on a team that has been winning in a way that feels familiar, with a roster that doesn't lean on one name.
Bergeron played 19 NHL seasons and 1294 games, every one of them with the Bruins. The league is giving him the full treatment, and NHL Media said nobody worked harder than the Bruins legend on his way to the Hall.
NHL Media also pointed to his ability to connect with and lead other players as a huge part of his career in Boston.
That quality is what makes the Bruins' current run interesting. They're 2nd in the NHL and first in the Atlantic Division, with a +24 goal differential.
Fluto Shinzawa put the whole thing together in a piece framing the captain, the coach and the Hall of Famer who still holds them together.
Boston Hockey Now's Daily Bean, meanwhile, ran a "Marchand on Bergeron" item alongside the win in Pittsburgh and an early Calder race look.
Brad Marchand is on the other side of this now. He plays for the Panthers, and according to the latest injury report he's on IR with a knee injury, expected out until at least Nov. 21.
Depth is carrying Marco Sturm's Bruins into Panthers weekend
Thursday's 6-2 win in Pittsburgh showed what this group looks like. Pavel Zacha scored twice, Mark Kastelic and Fraser Minten each scored, and Elias Lindholm got the game-winner.
David Pastrnak and John-Jason Peterka each added two assists. Michael DiPietro took the win in goal.
That's the kind of scoring by committee Sturm keeps getting. It's also why a roster without one overwhelming star still wins games, and I'd bet that suits Bergeron's legacy better than any highlight reel.
The road has been the soft spot. Sturm called for a cleaner effort away from home in Marco Sturm's call for a better road effort, and the Bruins answered in Pittsburgh. They're 5-3-1 away from TD Garden and 7-1-0 at home.
Home is where they play next. The Bruins host the Panthers on Sunday, with Florida 11th in the NHL at 9-5-2.
The Bruins carry a three-game winning streak into that game. Then comes Monday, when Bergeron is inducted and the ceremony airs at 7 PM ET on NHL Network.
Quick hits
LOS ANGELES KINGSAlex Turcotte has progressed back to "day-to-day," according to Peter Laviolette, with Kevin Fiala not far behind. Zach Dooley passed it along.
Good news for a Kings lineup that could use both.

That's a notable change for a veteran.

A tidy goalie shuffle, with Korpisalo back in the mix.
MINNESOTA WILDMarcus Foligno and Nick Foligno won't play for the Wild tonight against the Sharks, Michael Russo reports.
Two depth names out is a hit for Minnesota.
DALLAS STARSGlen Gulutzan says Miro Heiskanen is doubtful to play against San Jose on Saturday.
That's a big absence for the Stars if he can't go.
