Morgan Geekie is piling up goals for the Boston Bruins, and Team Canada leaving him off Milano Cortina keeps looking louder.

Heavy.com framed Geekie as the kind of omission Canada could regret, and honestly, I get why that angle is catching fire.

Hockey Canada announced its 25-man Olympic roster on Wednesday, and Geekie's name never showed up.

The biggest problem for Canada is simple, scoring dries up fast in best-on-best hockey. Geekie has 25 goals and 41 points this season.

Boston also has proof this is not a fluke month. Last season, Geekie posted 33 goals and 57 points in 77 games, then earned a six-year extension carrying a $5.5 million cap hit through 2030-31.

Canada's roster is still ridiculous, loaded with Sidney Crosby, Connor McDavid, and Nathan MacKinnon, plus a ton of proven two-way winners. But leaving a hot finisher out always feels risky when games tighten up to one bounce.

Team Canada to regret not taking Morgan Geekie

As a Bruins fan, it's tough watching “our guy” score like this and still get treated like a maybe.

Geekie's appeal is how direct his offense is, quick releases off the flank, rebounds around the crease, and enough touch to make the simple play under pressure. That translates when international teams stack bodies in the middle.

There's also a personality fit that's hard to measure from the outside. He plays responsible minutes in Boston, doesn't float, and still finds offense, which is usually the exact profile Canada loves in February hockey.

The résumé piece matters too. Geekie is 27, a 2017 third-round pick, and he has built this step by step, which is why the Bruins committing long term wasn't just a reward, it was a bet on repeatability.

If Canada rolls through the tournament, nobody will care about a snub column from early January. If goals get hard to find, every Geekie one-timer in black and gold will feel like a reminder they left something on the table.
