A trade was completed this morning and it says a lot about Boston Bruins defensemen Charlie McAvoy.

Today a surprising trade was made, that sent Ryan McDonagh back to Tampa Bay from Nashville. JFresh is known for analysis on twitter and the interesting part is how similar Charlie McAvoy and Ryan McDonagh really are.

JFresh posts WAR percentile sheets which goes over players performances across multiple facets of the game. On these sheets you can find how the player is when it comes to even-strength offence, defence, power play, penalty kill, competition, teammates, finishing ect.

Charlie McAvoy was compared to Ryan McDonagh when they were both 23 and the similarities are surprising. Both defensemen are similar in every aspect of their games and both have been difference makers for their teams.

McDonagh and McAvoy are two of the more directly comparable top defencemen of the cap era.

The Boston Bruins really have a generational defensemen in Charlie McAvoy, and Bruins fans need to realize that it's not easy to acquire one, so don't take it for granted.
