Wayne Gretzky Issued A Statement Regarding Zdeno Chara

March 28, 2024

During a recent NHL on TNT broadcast, hockey legend Wayne Gretzky shared an intriguing anecdote about facing off against Bruins icon Zdeno Chara.

Gretzky reminisced about his initial encounter with the towering defenseman, describing Chara's awkward movements on the ice akin to a young Bambi finding its footing.

However, Gretzky's perception swiftly changed the following season when Chara, having mastered his agility, transformed into a formidable adversary.

Austin Sabourin

Austin Sabourin grew up measuring winters by Bruins schedules and summers by draft. A rink kid from the first slapshot, he learned geography by road trips to the Garden and history by numbers in rafters. Ray Bourque posters curled above his desk; a scuffed puck rode in his backpack as talisman. The team's black and gold became a compass-pointing toward grit, loyalty, and the thrill of overtime breath-holds. That compass eventually pointed him online. Austin studied communications, then chased beat reporting, freelancing between practices and late-night recaps. In June 2023 he took the reins at BruinsInsider.com, where he edits tape breakdowns, tracks lines, and files stories before the Zamboni's lap. He prefers strong verbs to puff, stats to noise, and sources who text back after road losses. The site runs lean but quick-like a third-line forecheck that refuses to coast. Away from the press box, he still talks like a fan: superstitious hoodie, stubborn optimism, grudges softened by highlight reels. Weekend mornings start with coffee and cap math; evenings end with film study and a note to fix tomorrow's headline. He's chasing clarity over clicks, access over hype, and a simple promise: never miss what really matters to Bruins fans.
