It was (finally) announced this morning, that Patrice Bergeron had signed a one-year extension for the 2022-23 season with the Boston Bruins.

The captain met with media, via Zoom, to discuss he recent deal with the club.

‘'I wanted to come back because I still know I have something to give. ... I love the city, I love the team, I love the guys and I want to do something special here.''

Watch some of his media availability below:

Bergeron signed a one-year, $2.5 million contract, which is well below his market value, which was projected at $13.7 million via The Athletic.

''To me, hockey is all about the team's success and ultimately winning. That's what makes the difference between a good career and a great career.''

‘'I've made more money than I ever thought I would in hockey. Leaving a few [dollars] on the table to make sure you're a good team, and make sure you're a competitive team for years to come is what I've wanted to do. That's something that started here before me.''

Bergeron also stated that he told Bruins general manger Don Sweeney that he was coming back to the team before the start of NHL free agency.
