Last season, Bruins fans were continuously calling for Don Sweeney to be fired, and now a new development has surfaced in him being fired.

Things did not go well for the Boston Bruins last year, and after Sweeney ended up selling at the NHL trade deadline, fans were calling for his job.

Don Sweeney's contract was about to expire, as he only had one year left remaining on it, and upper management stated that this year was going to be make or break for him.

Not long after saying this, the Bruins ended up announcing a two-year contract extension for Don Sweeney.

This shocked a bunch of fans and analysts around the league, especially considering upper management just stated that this year was gonna be a make or break.

New development in Sweeney being fired

After last night's ugly loss to the Anaheim Ducks, a new development has surfaced in the Boston Bruins firing Sweeney.

NHL insider Jimmy Murphy stated that he never believed it was Juliens fault, or Bruce Cassidy, or Jim Montgomery.

And he doesn't believe it will be Marco Sturm's fault either, and pointed the finger towards Don Sweeney and Cam Neely.

I will always maintain that it was not Claude Julien's fault; it was not Bruce Cassidy's, and it wasn't Jim Montgomery's.

It likely won't be Marco Sturm's either.

At what point are those above the coaching staff held accountable by #NHLBruins ownership?

After needing a top-six forward for the past two years, the Bruins have done nothing to address this, and instead wasted all off-season signing depth players.

Sweeney has built and left a massive hole in the Bruins top-six, and it's becoming a big problem for them.
