Last year, around this time, Boston Bruins goaltender Jeremy Swayman ended up having an altercation with the organization, and now it could lead them to a playoff push.
The 2024-25 season was horrible for the Boston Bruins, and one big reason for it was Jeremy Swayman holding out of training camp due to not having a contract.
Bruins management ended up making contract talks publicly, and Cam Neely would take a couple shots at Jeremy Swayman.
Because Swayman did not sign a contract until 2 days before the season began, it delayed his preparation, and didn't help in the fact that he wasn't able to live up to expectations.
Jeremy Swayman could help the Bruins push for the playoffs with a full training camp
Now, Swayman is attending training camp for the Boston Bruins this year, and there is a chance we see a massive difference, maybe even a playoff push.
“It's an extremely important time of the year,” he said via NHL.com. “If I didn't have that experience, I probably wouldn't understand the importance of it. So yeah, this definitely allowed me to prepare a little bit differently come training camp time - and looking forward to it.”
Swayman seems to be in a way better place this year. “I'm a completely different human being. And that's a testament to the experience that I gained throughout my career to this point. And I'm so grateful for that, the ups and downs of it all,” he told NHL.com.
His absence from camp last year, played a big role in the Bruins culture not being there. “And that's something I've really rallied behind is being in this locker room, just [exuding] love to everyone because I missed them at this time of year last year.”
Swayman is now setting a high standard for himself entering the new year. “Sitting here, Jeremy Swayman is in a great spot and I'm really excited about that. To have that approach of creating the culture, creating my self-culture to be elite and hopefully it'll bleed into this room,” he said.
Do you think Jeremy Swayman is going to be able to lead the Boston Bruins to the playoffs?
