A lot of big moves we see made around the NHL are during the off-season, and there is a chance the Boston Bruins could be apart of one.
Don Sweeney is not afraid to make some big moves. The Boston Bruins General Manager proved this during the 2025 NHL trade deadline.
There were a lot of rumors suggesting the Boston Bruins may trade Brad Marchand, but nobody believed Don Sweeney would.
That was until the final minutes of the NHL trade deadline when Don Sweeney traded Brad Marchand to the Florida Panthers.
Now, Heavy.com has proposed a new trade that would be considered a pretty big trade as well, and could lead to another trade down the line.
Pavel Zacha to be traded to the Utah Mammoth?
Caleb Kerney of Heavy.com proposed that the Boston Bruins could trade Pavel Zacha to the Utah Mammoth.
Here is the trade that would take place:
Bruins Acquire:
2026 3rd round pick
Utah Mammoth Acquire:
Pavel Zacha (No Salary Retained)
This trade could make sense for a couple of reasons. The Fourth Period reported that Utah was a team interested in acquiring Pavel Zacha.
This would also give the Bruins an opening to go after someone like Jean-Gabriel Pageau who the Boston Bruins have been linked too.
Entering the off-season, Zacha was listed at number 16 of The Fourth Periods 2025 Summer Trade Watch List.
“The Bruins explored the trade market on Zacha during the season,” The Fourth Period reports. “And there is belief out there that Boston is looking, again, at moving him. His 10-team no-trade list turned into an eight-team list July 1, so he does have some say in where he ends up, if dealt. He has two years remaining on his contract.”
Do you think this would be a good trade for the Boston Bruins?
