Charlie McAvoy took another mouth shot, then stole two points for the Boston Bruins against the Los Angeles Kings.

Tuesday at TD Garden, Boston played a tight one and still found a way to beat Los Angeles 2-1 in overtime.

Late in the second period, McAvoy absorbed contact up high and skated off with a swollen, bloody mouth.

For a minute it felt like, here we go again, because his dental luck this season has been unreal.

McAvoy came back for the third period anyway, wearing the damage and playing through it.

Then he ended it fast, scoring 39 seconds into OT on a backhand deke after David Pastrnak hit him in stride.

McAvoy admitted the “hits” are getting tiring, and said the dentist was basically waiting on him after the horn.

This wasn't just hero hockey, either, he's producing all year from the blue line with 6-39-45 in 2025-26.

The Bruins improved to 36-22-6, and that win pushed their home heater to 13 straight.

Charlie McAvoy keeps dragging the Boston Bruins forward

Bruins fans are proud of the toughness, but also tired of watching their top guy pay this kind of price.

The OT play mattered because it showed Boston's spacing, Kastelic drives the lane, Pastrnak stretches the coverage, and McAvoy attacks the middle with speed.

It fit the whole night, too, a low-event game where Boston held the Kings to 15 shots and trusted their structure.

McAvoy's mouth situation is turning into a storyline, with visible gaps and more repair work after every ugly bounce.

The scary part is it echoes November, when he needed facial surgery after taking a puck to the face and missing time.

Boston can't afford to lose him again, not with him driving the man advantage and eating big minutes every night.

Next up is Thursday against the San Jose Sharks, and the Bruins will be praying McAvoy's smile survives warmups.
