Bruins goaltender Jeremy Swayman is officially entering the league-wide awards conversation, with The Athletic naming him a potential Vezina Trophy candidate as the season approaches its halfway point.

Swayman endured an uneven campaign last year, but his response to begin 2025-26 has been exactly what the Bruins needed.

His consistency and poise have anchored a Boston team many expected to struggle, yet instead find themselves firmly in a playoff position and surprising much of the league.

In The Athletic's updated awards poll, Swayman received 12 percent of the vote, tying him for third among Vezina candidates.

NHL analyst Shayna Goldman explained why he earned her vote, writing, “Jeremy Swayman would be my pick today, but I won't be surprised if general managers look elsewhere depending on where the Bruins finish in the standings (right or wrong, it just always plays a factor).”

Through 19 starts, Swayman holds a 12-7-0 record with a 2.70 goals-against average and a .913 save percentage.

The numbers reflect a goaltender who has kept Boston in nearly every game, even during stretches when the lineup was thin due to injuries. His form has fueled the team's 17-13-0 start and their current hold on third place in the Atlantic Division.

Jeremy Swayman believes Boston Bruins are proving themselves

Swayman has credited the team around him for the strong opening half, but he also acknowledges the importance of the group showing they can sustain this push.

As he put it, “That's important at this stage, especially before Christmas, just knowing that we can play consistently well and get results from it.”

He added a reminder of humility and urgency that fits Boston's approach this season:

“That is something that we can. We know this league can humble us, so every game is important, and the points are obviously really important at this time of year.”

The Bruins now prepare for Tuesday's road matchup against the Minnesota Wild, and with Swayman locked in, their confidence continues to build. If his play holds, the Vezina conversation may only grow louder.
