Elias Lindholm injury forces a Boston Bruins lineup shakeup, and Matt Poitras and Fraser Minten just became the story.
Boston needed a center, and they did not wait around.
Poitras is back in the NHL after grinding in Providence, and the timing screams opportunity.
This season in Providence, Poitras has had a solid season so far with an 8-16-24 stat line, and because of this, he is earning a chance with the Bruins.
Minten is the other major change, because he’s jumping right into Lindholm’s top-line seat.
He is 21, drafted in 2022 in the second round by the Toronto Maple Leafs, and Boston trusts his details enough to give him the hardest assignment.
Those are the changes. Poitras centers Marat Khusnutdinov and Michael Eyssimont, while Minten bumps up to center Morgan Geekie and David Pastrnak.
The rest of the look stays mostly intact, which tells you Marco Sturm wants structure, not chaos.
Bruins make a couple changes ahead of meeting with Flyers
Minten’s job is simple with the top line, he is going to have to win pucks, get it to the wingers, and live in the middle without cheating.
Geekie and Pastrnak need to just continue doing what they have been all season long.
For Poitras, this is a clean third-line audition.
It's nice to see some more youth get slotted into the lineup with Poitras being recalled and it also gives him a chance to make a name for himself and make it hard on Sturm to pull him from the lineup whenever Lindholm returns.
Do you think these changes are going to affect the Bruins in a good way or bad way tonight?
