At some point in the season, the Bruins are going to be involved in the trade market, and due to a shortage of centers, the trade block is going to be competitive.
The Boston Bruins have reportedly been looking to move center Casey Mittelstadt, but a NHL analyst has made it clear that he isn't a good option for other teams.
Recently, Craig Button appeared on Frankly Hockey with Frank Seravalli where he gave his honest opinion on the Bruins top-six forward.
“I'm not going anywhere near Casey Mittelstadt.”
Button went on to say that he isn't impressed with his lack of commitment and compete, and also had this to say:
“I'm going to be really straightforward. I've watched Casey for a long time. I don't think it's about Casey lacking skill. I think it's about Casey lacking competitive spirit. So, if you want a player with a little bit of skill and can tease you a little bit, and doesn't compete, Casey's your guy.”
Button believes that teams that actually want to win, should stay away from Casey Mittelstadt, including the Boston Bruins.
There is a chance this ruins the Bruins opportunity to move on from the center at this years trade deadline, or anytime during the season.
Bruins didn't want Mittelstadt in trade with Avalanche
Last season, the Bruins ended up trading Charlie Coyle to the Colorado Avalanche during the NHL trade deadline, and it was made clear that the Bruins did not want Mittelstadt.
Instead they were interested in Will Zellers and the second-round pick:
Anonymous NHL executive: Re Casey Mittelstadt: "There was a common feeling that he wasn't their main target when they traded for him; Zellers and the second-round draft pick were" (speaking to James Murphy) - RG (8/10)»
Do you think the Boston Bruins are going to be able to trade Mittelstadt after these comments from NHL analyst Craig Button?
