This past offseason, Boston Bruins General Manager Don Sweeney signed a bunch of depth players to contracts and is now receiving some praise for one of them.

After being complete sellers at the NHL trade deadline and missing some key players in their top six, Don Sweeney decided to focus on signing depth players in the off-season instead of targeting a big-name player.

It seems like this decision was the right one, as a lot of the signings Sweeney ended up making have made a big impact on their season so far.

One player in particular has been outstanding for the Bruins, and Don Sweeney is getting some praise for signing him.

Don Sweeney signs Mikey Eyssimont

That player in question is forward Mikey Eyssimont. In the off-season, Eyssimont was signed to a two-year, $2.9 million contract.

Last season, Eyssimont split 77 games between the Tampa Bay Lightning and Seattle Kraken, where he scored nine goals and seven assists for 16 points, along with having 110 hits.

This signing in the off-season didn't get much recognition, as it wasn't a big signing by the Bruins, but it's turned out to be better than anyone expected.

Michael DeRosa of The Hockey News is giving Don Sweeney some praise for this signing.

"Eyssimont has been an excellent fit in the Bruins' lineup since his arrival and has been providing them with some solid secondary offensive production in the process. In 25 games so far this season with the Bruins, Eyssimont has recorded five goals, seven assists, and 12 points. With this, he is on pace to pass his current career highs of 11 goals, 14 assists, and 25 points, which he set during the 2023-24 season with the Lightning."

In his last five games, Eyssimont has been productive for the Bruins, scoring three points.

Do you think this was one of Don Sweeney's best signings in the off-season?
