A completed trade between the Bruins and Panthers last year at the deadline is looking like a massive mistake from general manager Don Sweeney.
Last year at the NHL trade deadline, Don Sweeney decided it was time for the Bruins to make some big changes.
With this, Sweeney ended up trading captain Brad Marchand to the Florida Panthers in the final minutes of the deadline.
Well, Brad Marchand is now proving that this was a big mistake on Sweeney's end.
Marchand making Sweeney regret his decision
The 37-year-old former Bruins captain is dominating the NHL right now. This season, Marchand has appeared in 16 games with the Panthers, recording 11 goals and nine assists for 20 points.
As the season continues to move on, Marchand does not look like he is going to slow down at all. Right now, he is currently on a nine-game point streak where he has scored eight of his goals and picked up 14 points.
Just the other day, Marchand hit a major milestone with the Florida Panthers. After picking up 2 assists in their 6-3 win over the Washington Capitals, Marchand picked up his 1,000th career NHL point, reaching this feat in just 1,116 games.
Looking back at all the success Marchand had during his 16 years with the Bruins, it's not the most surprising to see that he is continuing to have success with the Panthers this season.
Marchand has been one of the best pickups the Panthers have made, and that was proven in the Stanley Cup Playoffs last year, where he had 10 goals and 10 assists for 20 points in 23 games.
Don Sweeney has to be regretting making this trade and should have just given Marchand what he wanted in contract talks.
Do you think trading away Brad Marchand was a massive mistake by Don Sweeney?
