Milan Lucic is not ready to close the book on his playing career just yet.
The former Boston Bruins fan favourite is exploring every option after his time with the St. Louis organization officially came to an end on November 25th.
Lucic, now 37, is sorting through his next move after being released by AHL Springfield a little over a week ago.
He appeared in five games there before the club chose to move on, and with North American opportunities fading, the veteran power forward may need to look far from home to keep playing.
According to TSN insider Darren Dreger, Lucic already has one concrete offer - from a professional team in Scotland.
It is not the path many envisioned for a player who once dominated NHL rinks with physicality, leadership, and timely scoring, but it is a path that would keep him on the ice this season. Dreger added that while a return to NHL play seems unlikely at this stage, Lucic could pursue a different avenue within the league if he prefers not to uproot his life for one more season abroad.

Fans who followed Lucic's bruising career know how much pride he carries in his work. As a fan you can feel that he is wrestling with the choice. On one hand, the desire to keep playing the game burns strong. On the other, there may be front-office or developmental roles waiting for him in the NHL if he decides to shift into the next phase of his hockey life.
For now, Lucic has a decision to make. Accept the overseas offer and extend his playing days or remain in North America and transition into an off-ice role that keeps him connected to the league where he made his name.
Whichever direction he chooses, his legacy as one of Boston's most beloved modern Bruins is secure.
Should Milan Lucic continue playing overseas or shift into an NHL off-ice role?
