Former Boston Bruins captain Brad Marchand is currently proving that Bruins GM Don Sweeney made the wrong choice in moving on from him.

During the NHL trade deadline last year, the most shocking move the Bruins made was trading captain Brad Marchand to divisional rival, the Florida Panthers.

Along with Marchand, other players like Brandon Carlo, Charlie Coyle, Trent Frederic, and Justin Brazeau were also traded.

The reason Brad Marchand wanted to be traded out of Boston was due to the two sides not being able to agree on a contract.

Marchand wanted a long-term deal, whereas the Bruins did not want to give him one over three years.

Instead, Marchand got traded to the Panthers, where he won the Stanley Cup and went on to sign a long-term 6-year deal with them.
