Jeremy Swayman showed off new Stadium Series pads, and the Boston Bruins suddenly look even more locked in for Sunday.

It happened at Friday’s optional practice, the kind of skate where you usually expect light work and smiles. Instead, the first thing that popped was the gear.

Swayman stepped on the ice with fresh goalie pads built for the outdoor look. Bright yellow, bold striping, and a clean Bruins feel.

It seems like Swayman is pretty excited to be playing in an out-door game.

Swayman has carried a heavy load this season, posting a 22-12-2 record with a 2.86 goals-against average and a .904 save percentage.

He’s also coming off a busy night against Philadelphia, stopping 33 of 36 shots in a 6-3 win.

Jeremy Swayman looking forward to opportunity

This is a big opportunity for Swayman if he does get the call to be the starting goaltender.

Swayman struggled big time last year, and the Boston Bruins nearly ended up trading him because of it.

But he has found a way to bounce back this season, and is a big reason for why the Bruins are currently in a playoff spot.

Outdoor ice can turn routine shots into knuckleballs. A tiny tweak in stiffness or strapping can mean the difference between a tidy cover and a rebound sitting in the slot.

This Stadium Series setup has its own vibe, too, with Tampa leaning into a pirate-theme backdrop at Raymond James Stadium.

Boston faces the Tampa Bay Lightning on Sunday, and it’s the kind of game where the goalie becomes the headline in a hurry.

If Swayman sees the puck clean and controls rebounds, the Bruins can play their usual tight, direct style. If not, it turns into a track meet.
