Matthew Poitras heard the noise, and the Boston Bruins kid made it clear he’s not sulking, even with trade rumors buzzing.

The chatter ramped up with the pre-Olympic roster freeze acting like a mini deadline around the league.

Poitras’ name popped up during Boston’s pursuit of Rasmus Andersson, even if the final offer reportedly wasn’t going to include him.

Then Elliotte Friedman twisted the knife, saying the Bruins and Poitras “aren’t 100 percent happy with each other.”

That’s the kind of line that follows a 21-year-old everywhere. So Poitras spoke out and addressed it head-on.

“I’m happy,” he told WEEI. “I’m not unhappy in any way.” He didn’t stop there, either. “I haven’t been unhappy all season,” Poitras said, adding he’s “happy to be here” and “happy to try and contribute.”

He admitted the obvious truth, too.

“It’s hard to be playing in Providence and the ultimate goal is to be playing in the NHL,” he said, but he wants to “earn” it.

Matthew Poitras not looking to be traded by the Bruins

When the Bruins were involved in the Rasmus Andersson trade rumors, there was some belief that Poitras could be on his way out.

He also recently changed his agent at the time, and there was speculation that was due to him wanting a trade. He had this to say about it:

“Just change of scenery. Nothing really to read into,” Poitras said.

But Poitras has cleared the air, stating that he likes the Bruins organization and isn't unhappy with how they are treating him.

He has a lot of potential to be good in the NHL for the Bruins, but if they have the chance to acquire someone who can help them now in the NHL and in the future, there is a chance the Bruins would move on from Poitras.
