There is a rumor going around that the Boston Bruins could trade two defenseman ahead of the NHL trade deadline.

Chris Johnston’s latest trade board dropped, and it included two Bruins defensemen.

Peeke landed at No. 24 on the list, which is a pretty loud signal for a team trying to stay in the playoff mix.

Lohrei showed up right behind him at No. 25, and that one feels even more eyebrow-raising.

Peeke being mentioned isn’t new, because a pending UFA always draws calls when the calendar tightens.

Not only that, but he hasn't fit the Bruins system quite like they would have wanted and there have been talks about him being moved for awhile.

In 55 games, Peeke has 4-7-11 with 66 hits, 98 blocks, and a minus-8.

The catch is Boston would be creating a new hole on the right side if it moved him, and that’s a risky trade to make mid-race.

Mason Lohrei rumor raise eyebrows

Lohrei has been in rumors for a while, but it's raising some eyebrows.

With the Bruins being in a rebuild, it would be a terrible idea to trade a young defenseman with as much potential as Lohrei has.

Lohrei is 25, was drafted in 2020 in the second-round by the Bruins, and he’s quietly become a legit part of their nightly mix.

This season he has 6 goals and 17 assists for 23 points in 51 games with a plus-7, and that’s real value on a team that needs puck movers.

Lohrei was also rumored to be a return in a Rasmus Andersson trade if the Bruins made one.

If the Bruins were to trade Peeke, they would have to find a replacement for him, as it would leave a hole on the right side.

Unless the Bruins are getting a legit top-six player back, trading Lohrei would not be a great move by Don Sweeney.

At this point, these are just rumors, but it will be interesting to see what the Bruins do as the trade deadline approaches.
