A major report surfaced by prominent NHL insider, Chris Johnston, of TSN which has confirmed former Boston Bruins captain Brad Marchand's direction in free agency.
The Boston Bruins made the tough decision to part ways with longtime captain, Brad Marchand, this past March 7th trade deadline, due to a tight budget by Don Sweeney.
Many fans disagreed on the decision to cut ties with their fan-favorite veteran, and a lot of backlash was dealt toward's the organization and GM Sweeney.
However, despite the backlash, general manager Don Sweeney was given an two-year extension just a few weeks ago.
With Don Sweeney's future in Boston now secured for another two-years, Brad Marchand's is now more uncertain than ever.
On the verge of winning another Stanley Cup with the Florida Panthers, Marchand's reportedly going to cash in on a new deal this offseason.
And this new deal was been revealed to be based on Marchand's ability to maximize his contract.
Take a look:
"Chris Johnston: Brad Marchand's priority is earnings maximization on his next contract; a place like Toronto could make off ice endorsements part of the sales pitch - TSN 1050"
This being said, the Boston Bruins are already seemingly out of the run for their former captain, and it looks as though Marchand could find himself with another contending team and his biggest contract yet.
Do you think the Boston Bruins' former captain, Brad Marchand, would agree to a contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs if the price is right?
Only time will tell.
