The Boston Bruins have finally received their answer regarding a player they have been linked to all summer.
Since the completion of the 2024/25 NHL season, the Minnesota Wild's Marco Rossi had been looming the rumor mill.
This was strictly to do with the fact that this highly skilled restricted free agent (RFA) and his organization, the Minnesota Wild, couldn't come to an agreement regarding a contract extension.
And one major rumor that had been circulating the hockey world was that Rossi could make his way to Boston this offseason.
The Minnesota Wild and Marco Rossi struggled to come to an agreement regarding an extension
Rossi had pushed for a long-term deal, while it seemed the Wild were more interested in a short-term extension, something that could offer less of a cap hit.
However, an NHL insider, Frank Seravalli, has unveiled that the two have officially come to an agreement.
NHL insider confirms Minnesota Wild's Marco Rossi and the organization has finally come to an agreement
Frank Seravalli, a well-trusted NHL insider, reported that the Wild and Rossi compromised on a three-year, $5 million average annual value (AAV).
Take a look:
“Expecting Marco Rossi's bridge deal with #mnwild to come in at 3 years x $5 million flat. Nice compromise after an uncertain summer for Rossi in Minnesota.“
This could ultimately be considered a massive win for the Wild, as Rossi's camp was hopeful to hit somewhere near the $7 million AAV mark.
The Boston Bruins now need to search elsewhere for talent
With all being said, it is now official that the Boston Bruins ability to steal Marco Rossi from the Wild is slim to none, meaning this re-building organization will need to search elsewhere to acquire talent on their roster for the 2025/26 NHL season.
Do you think the Boston Bruins will be able to complete their ongoing rebuild before the 2025/26 NHL season begins?
