A recent announcement revealed that three top prospects for the Boston Bruins are going to get a solid opportunity today.

The Boston Bruins had to have a roster submitted to the NHL on Monday, and because of this, they had to make roster cuts, sending players down to the American Hockey League.

Two players that were placed on waivers by the Boston Bruins are getting a solid opportunity today, and so is another fan favourite.

Poitras, Merkulov, and Blumel given solid opportunity

Today the Providence Bruins were running some drills during practice, and it looks like three players that just missed out on making the Bruins opening night roster, are being given a good opportunity.

Matthew Poitras, Matej Blumel, and Georgii Merkulov were all seen practicing on the Bruins top power play unit today.

Looks like one of Providence's PP units today has Steeves and Farinacci up top with Merkulov, Poitras, Blumel

Another unit looks to be Brunet and Locmelis up top with Tufte, Brown, Lysell

This is a huge opportunity for them because like Don Sweeney said, there is going to be a chance for them right around the corner.

Why were offensive-minded players like Matej Blumel, Matt Poitras and Fabian Lysell unable to break camp with the Bruins?

Don Sweeney says those players are «disappointed,» but that their next opportunity could be right around the corner:

If they take advantage of this whenever their regular season begins, they could get a shot in the NHL sooner than they thought.
