The Boston Bruins have been dealing with a bunch of injuries this season, and it has led to a bunch of players getting some opportunities.

One player in particular has taken advantage of the opportunity and may have a permanent roster spot with the Bruins.

With the Bruinsbeing without Casey Mittelstadt and Viktor Arvidsson, they have a couple of players called up from the AHL.

One of those players is Alex Steeves, an off-season signing by Bruins GM Don Sweeney, and he has been taking full advantage of his opportunity.

Steeves may steal a roster spot

At first, Steeves was playing on the second line but has since been moved to the fourth line.

It looks like that is the perfect spot for the forward, as he has looked really good since moving there, and last night was a perfect example.

Didn't think Steeves was an answer in the top six, but his ability to play a bottom-six role might keep him around a while.

Last night, Steeves ended up scoring two big goals for the Boston Bruins. He scored the first goal of the game to tie the game 1-1, and then he later added a short-handed goal as well to help the Bruins secure their 3-1 win against the Islanders.

Steeves has now set a new career high in NHL points with four in just nine games with the Boston Bruins this season.

If he continues to play this way, it's going to be hard for management to pull him from the lineup whenever they get some of their guys back.
