Conor Ryan just reported that the Bruins have placed James Hagens on injured reserve and recalled Mikey Eyssimont from Providence.

The posts give no diagnosis and no timeline. That's all we know this morning. Hagens went to the room in the third period Thursday in Pittsburgh after the Samuel Girard crosscheck, and Hagens leaving the game after the Girard crosscheck left fans waiting for answers.

Ryan's post confirms the move and nothing more on how long the 20-year-old center will be out.

The NHL Rosters account put out the same transaction, with both the IR placement and the Eyssimont recall.

Coach Marco Sturm had no update after the 6-2 win, as Marco Sturm's lack of word on Hagens showed Thursday night. Now the roster move gives the first sign of how the club is handling it.

Hagens, the seventh overall pick in 2025, has been a real piece of this start. He has 6 goals and 6 assists in 17 games and sits at +7.

He's been part of a team that is 12-4-1, first in the Atlantic Division and riding a three-game winning streak. Losing a producer like that is a hit, whatever the length of the absence.

Eyssimont arrives on a hot streak

Eyssimont comes up from Providence on a heater. Mark Divver pointed out that he has 13 goals on 42 shots this season.

Jack Studley reported that Eyssimont scored a natural hat trick in 1:43 on Friday night, pulling the Providence Bruins back from two goals down in a 5-4 regulation win over Hamilton.

That's Mikey Eyssimont's natural hat trick against Hamilton, the kind of night that gets a recall. He has 269 NHL games behind him, but hasn't played one this season.

Nobody shoots that well forever, and Eyssimont is no replacement for Hagens's scoring. Still, he arrives with confidence.

The timing is tight. The Bruins host the Panthers on Sunday, Nov. 8. Who plays where, and who sits, hasn't been revealed.
